"Wonderful" Carol Concert 2013

The Third Annual DDMT Carol Service was held last Wednesday 11th December, once again in the beautiful setting of St. Mary Abbotts' church.  This magnificent occasion always provides the perfect opportunity for family, friends and supporters of the Trust to come together to remember Dougie and all those who give so much for their country in the Armed Forces.  It also provides an excellent opportunity for DDMT to thank all who have worked so hard to raise funds this year and for our new Chairman, Matthew Burrows, to talk  a little about the projects and people who have benefitted from the many generous donations received. (Read here)

About 500 people filled the church to hear four Trumpeters from the Irish Guards launch the Service with a triumphant fanfare followed by hymns led by the Choir of St Mary's and readings from a number of distinguished speakers.  A rousing reception was held after the singing and prayers were finished.

The Trust is very grateful to former Foreign Secretary, Lord (Douglas) Hurd CH CBE PC, Lord Brocket, Lt Col Toby Till MBE and General Sir David Richards GCB CBE DSO for their beautifully delivered readings and of course  the Reverend Julia Hedley, the Associate Vicar of St Mary Abbotts Church, for leading us through the Service and so warmly welcoming us for the reception afterwards.  A huge thank you too to the trumpeters and those outstandingly smart representatives from the Coldstream Guards who helped with the important task of welcoming guests, handing out Service Sheets, Gift Aid envelopes and collecting donations on the door.  A grand total of around £17,000 was raised.

Thank you to all those who supported us, particularly our sponsors who took pages in the Service Sheet and JF Tobias who so kindly supplied the wine.  Special thanks too to Sandra Ankorcrona and her Fundraising Team for all their work in making the evening such a success.  Finally, very many thanks to Phoebe Goddard of Phoebe Goddard Photography for her fabulous pictures, some of which are reproduced on this page.
