Months of training and fundraising culminated on Saturday night, 7 June, with the band of DDMT bikers taking to the streets of London to cycle 100 kms and claim their Nightrider medal.
Arabella Chichester, the mastermind behind this effort for DDMT, wrote to tell us:
"All the riders (30 in the end as a few dropped out) completed the 100km in what we see as respectable times all coming in between 5 and 7 hours and, despite wanting to, didn’t cheat or skip any part of the route and managed to avoid any nasty falls or punctures! We all have very sore bums now but it was a fabulous event which saw us pass the sights of London including Crystal Palace, Alexandra Palace, The Mall, Piccadilly Circus, Dalston, Dulwich, the embankment at sunrise and the less exciting sides of Musswell Hill…. We even cycled past the Coldstream Chapel which was very special as well."
"I hope to tally up all the donations later this week once they have all come in but I estimate it to be no less than £8k at the moment and perhaps much more."
"A huge thank you to everyone who helped pull in riders, helped with fundraising and were generally wonderful supports. A special thank you to James and Matt for coming to see us off and hand out t-shirts It was a tremendous night and I think a number of us have now crowned ourselves the new Bradley Wiggins! Photo evidence attached!"
"A cheeky last plea for anyone who hasn’t sponsored us on Virgingiving, it isn’t too late and any donation no matter how small would be greatly appreciated"
