As friends of DDMT many of our donations go towards re-integration of wounded service personnel by supporting projects to restore self belief and confidence. These in themselves would only work if everything else for a "normal life" was in place; housing, employment, schools, social life etc.
Military Matters is a charity set up to provide this sort of support and donations from DDMT have enabled them to really get to grips with some of the problems our veterans face.
Received recently this letter from Moira Bayne, Chief Executive:
"I am writing to draw your attention to the report by the Scottish Veterans Commissioner. Military Matters gets a special mention on p14 and I just wanted to let you know that the DDMT money was absolutely crucial to our successful engagement with veterans."
The report is long so I have extracted the passage on p14: "they have provided detailed housing information and advice to dozens of serving personnel and veterans contributing to ... housing briefs and providing advice on housing at several Careers Transition Partnership employment roadshows"
It is wonderful to know that DDMT funding made a difference.
Turn to our "What we Do" page to find out more about Military Matters Scotland and their invaluable work with veterans.
We would love to hear from you if you know of any soldier (whether current or past), family member or any project that might benefit from our help.
