"Another brilliant day for the 5th DDMT golf day, which took place on Thursday 30th April 2015 at Huntercombe Golf Club. Its started cloudy and, as the players walked to their shotgun-start tees, it looked like it was going to rain. But it didn’t and the sun came out. The course looked superb. The bluebells were out in force and Huntercombe’s famous Kites were flying overhead. Many players had brought their dogs with them – including Colette Dalzell’s two Labradors.
The players – strengthened by bacon rolls, coffee and the purchase of mulligans (up to two allowed per player) - set out to win a splendid selection of prizes. They included the Tournament silver salver, two superb TaylorMade Drivers, two 60 degree lob wedges, lots of golf balls and a bottle of Champagne Bollinger. Amanda Duncan, the photographer, was out on the course memorializing the event.
As the players came in, Geoffrey Vero, a senior R & A man – who had been unable to play because of injury - received and expertly checked the score cards. The kitchen staff laid on a delicious lunch including superb roast pork and salmon en croute.
The winners with 44 stableford points (on a count back) were Gerald Barber and Peter Jennings, runners up also with 44 points Joe Parkin and Nick Powell and in third place with 43 points Chris Palmer and Angus Dalzell.
Many thanks to Ross Jennings who organized the event and James Amos, who was the Master of Ceremonies.
A great day – enjoyed by all.”
