The Distribution Committee have been busy! Two more donations can be announced; one to send a veteran on a once in a life time expedition with Veterans for Wildlife and the other to provide an adrenaline sporting opportunity with associated mentoring with Skiing with the Wounded.
Veterans for Wildlife: We are going to support a single veteran to partake in a therapeutic two week placement in South Africa. The charity is a great bunch, working with South African game rangers to protect the wildlife of the region. Our veteran (who will have recent front line experience) will be chosen in consultation with us but the process is facilitated by Veterans of Hope and have a pool of suitable candidates. We are very excited at this donation which will take place next year.
Grant Manager, Sarah Dennis writes: "The purpose of the Veterans for Wildlife (V4W), Footprints of Hope Wellness Programme is to address the identified need; ‘to provide Veterans in crisis with person-centered initial and lifetime support in order for them to take control of their problems, improve their psychological and physical wellbeing and combat isolation’."
We are also excited about our donation to
Skiing with the Wounded: This is another great initiative, well established, several volunteers are known to Trustees. They provide both the adventure and mentoring that is so important all the while providing a valuable period with like minded veterans in the mountains.
More requests are undergoing due diligence!
We would love to hear from you if you know of any soldier (whether current or past), family member or any project that might benefit from our help.
