Arrange a Talk on the SOE in aid of DDMT

Talks by Gilly Halcrow on SOE, Special Operations Executive,

‘Churchill’s Secret Army’

The Special Operations Executive (SOE) also known as Churchill's Secret Army, was established by Churchill during World War 2 to train operatives and send them behind enemy lines to organise resistance.  Gilly Halcrow is an accomplished speaker whose father, Colonel Ernest van Maurik, was an SOE veteran.  She has put together a fascinating lecture and generously offered to donate the proceeds from talks on the SOE to DDMT.  Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Since Gilly approached the Trust with her offer she has presented the talk many times to small and large audiences all over the country with great success.  She has raised over £54,000 for the Lt Dougie Dalzell MC Memorial Trust.

Gilly speaking at Dorney Court

Gilly writes:

"A tribute to the brave men and women who parachuted behind enemy lines. Their task was to organise the resistance in countries that had been occupied by the Germans and, as Churchill ordered, to ‘Set Europe Ablaze’

Following the death of my father, an SOE veteran, I have been researching this talk and am delighted and thrilled that I am now ready to deliver it! The talk gives an account of the training and preparation through which the agents went. Also the stories of a few of the missions they undertook, some of which achieved amazing success while other agents were betrayed, suffering horrendous torture, usually followed by execution.

I would be very honoured to donate any fees or donations that I receive to the heroes of today, through the Lt Dougie Dalzell MC Memorial Fund."
